Yep, I'm afraid so. The good news is, the tools you need aren't terribly expensive, and they last a long damn time. Leather is a wonderfully malleable, punchable, shapeable medium, and the right tools can bend it to your will!
I suppose there are lots of places you can buy tools. I'll only list my top two choices, hoping all the while that you'll go for that first one! ;)
WWL Hardware is the BDSM leathercrafter's supply. I built this site around the small crafter, with reasonable prices, low minimums, and everything you need to build a huge pile of BDSM gear. The tools you see here are generally the tools you'll find there.
The Leather Factory is the big dog in the industry, and they'll have all of the tools you need as well.
A couple of the tools you'll need can also be found at your local hardware store, or even Wal-Mart. If possible, you should buy from these sources (and send me the money you save!).
I know that tool buying can be confusing for someone just starting out. The WWL: CDROM Edition will include a new buyers guide, and I'll eventually get that over here too. Also, I'll be assembling basic and extended tools packages on WWL Hardware. For now, I've added WWL Hardware part numebrs to the tools I carry, and recommend other sources where I think that makes sense.
