About Sartan's Workshop

Sartan's Workshop is one of several lines of business I operate. Along with Orgasm Alley, the Workshop is my primary livelihood, a full-time business... indeed far more than the usual definition of "full time!" Through Sartan's Workshop, I offer a wide range of fine, handcrafted BDSM equipment. All of my own design, all meticulously crafted.

Sartan (pronounced SAR-tan) obviously isn't my given name. It dates back to college, and has been my moniker in "kinky" circles ever since. My given name is Paul... you're welcome to call me either, as they're one and the same to me.

I hold undergraduate and Master's degrees in business, and was busily climbing the corporate ladder in consulting when the bottom dropped out of the technology sector. I turned to my first love for a living... designing and building things. I've been making bondage gear since 1988, and sex machines since 1995. My crafting skills date back farther, primarily under the informal tutelate of my father, a skilled woodworker and semi-professional gunsmith. Having built out hundreds of bondage gear designs, and built the "how-to" resource most other crafters base their designs upon, I believe few people have broader experience in these areas. I love working with my hands, and feel very fortunate to have to opportunity to enjoy that pursuit full time while still supporting my family.

In many ways, I'm a traditionalist. Old fashioned, you might say. Nowhere is that as true as business.

There are dozens of cliches that describe traditional business values... all turned to so much empty verbiage by big businesses claiming to be something they're not. I'll use an image instead: the owner of Main Street General Store, Anytown USA, circa 1950. Impeccable reputation for honesty and integrity. Truly personal service. Knowledgeable about his stock, from hose fittings to lawnmowers to pesticides, and free with sound advice. Business on a handshake.

The customer may not always be right, but doing the right thing always comes first. This premise guides my business decisions, with the result of an unparalleled reputation for Innovation, Excellence, and Service:

I am passionate about high quality equipment. Of course, no one is going to make an "I sell stuff" page that claims their equipment is crummy. Just what does "high quality" entail, anyway? Here’s what the phrase means to me:

Equipment from Sartan's Workshop displays the attention and care of the Old World craftsman. Every piece is individually created by hand from the finest materials and components available. If you were to disassemble my products, you would find the same care evident in places you can't see as places you can. Painted internal areas to resist rust and wood warp; finished strap ends, even though they're folded over out of sight; and so on.

My designs are sound. They are overbuilt, and almost always an improvement over similar alternatives. Each design is tested (the fun part ;), re-tested, and so on. Stress points are reinforced as necessary to ensure my equipment holds up to the expected uses -- and beyond -- for years to come.

You can almost always buy similar items more cheaply from someone else. I do not believe you can buy better made equipment at any price, and you will never find better customer support. Made with Pride in the USA.
